I love coffee shops. Once I moved to Paris and learned of the “noisette,” an espresso with a touch of cream. The hazelnut colored chaud “hot drink” is my favorite. As I become more French, this drink is the best of both worlds. My cafe has the coffee taste that I love and the creamy texture that makes a latte irresistable.
I’ll be sharing different coffee shops as I come across and discover them. Paris gets a bad rep for coffee, but I think people just don’t know where to go. So here’s my attempt at solving it.
Up first…
Vibe: Toy Story & A Well-Adjusted Millennial
ATMOSPHERE
The place had a deep, vintage 40s and 50s-era feel, grounded by wood and a few modern pieces.
There is an international flair with roots in Colombia. There are also African textiles and greenery dispersed through the coffee shop. The warm colors of orange, green, and burgundy evoke a sense of childhood energy. It’s as if you stepped into a dreamy young boy’s bedroom. The atmosphere feels down-to-earth.
MUSIQUE
The music leans towards eclectic oldies. There were unique covers of old popular songs, modernized. Playing was a song by Simple Red, “If You Don’t Know Me.”
MENU
This is my second time visiting.
The first time I bought my standard noisette order. The coffee was dark, a touch of fruitiness. The coffee brand they is is TANAT.
HOJICHA: A nice alternative to the matcha craze, the drink had a smooth consistency.
The PASTRAMI SANDWICH was a 7/10 alternative. It was a lighter version that I enjoyed. The pastrami and the bread were the stand-out ingredients. Then there was the light vinaigrette, pickled onion salad, with a citrus component that evened out a heavier companion.
PRODUCTS
They have typical products like Oatley. The coffee brand they sell is TANAT.
There was also a homemade granola mix with Cardamom Tahini Granola, which I will be grabbing next time.
OWNERS
The owners stand out. They are warm and kind. I’ve visited twice, and the attention to detail does not go unnoticed. They have created a calm, relaxing experience in a vibrant 18eme.
